I managed to sneak in a few hours of reading yesterday just before bed. Holden is making so much progress, and Ella and Mrs. Harris (Holden's Mother) is floating on cloud nine with Holden singing and responding to her more than he has in years. Holden's singing and actually said a word to Ella, he communicated to his mother through his PECS cards and his his own way asked for Ella to join them in church. Ella accepted.....
For any other high school senior this would mean nothing but every milestone for an autistic child is celebrated, especially when you have waited FIFTEEN years to see it again in your child. My son was a bit younger when he lost his speech but it is devastating. However life goes on whether we want it to or not, so my philosophy is that I give myself one day to feel sorry for myself and let the shock wear off and then I begin to form a plan of action. It works for me, but perhaps it is not for everyone. Have a great Halloween!

Prabe Blog #3 "Unlocked"
With Holden making more and more progress everyday, Ella find herself spending more andmore time with him and less and less with her old group of friends. She does not mind though she is with drawing from them as she sees the difference she is making in Holden's life. The school musical is getting close and Ella is still trying to figure out how to get Holden a part but with his drama fees paid she is one step closer....
This week was very scattered for my reading I was only able to get in a few minutes right before bed, but finally I have reached 90 minutes.

"Unlocked" By: Karen Kingsbury Post 2
Holden (autistic boy) makes it into the theatre classroom and watches the drama students rehearse and does very well until the mob scene when the villagers are going after the Beast, in Beauty and the Beast. He gets very upset and acts out but after everyone has left he makes eye contact with Ella, his long lost friend from when he was two and three. Ella has always been a part of his life see everyday after school he watches a home video of Ella and himself dancing before autisim took him over and locked him deep inside himself. The mother of Holden has began talking with Ella as well after the rehersals and they are becoming to gain a reconnection. Stay Tuned.......
My son was also between two and three when he stopped talking and began showing signs of autisim, in fact it was only about a month after he turned two. My son is not as severe as the boy in this story however the have many similarities. They both love music, and they both "flap" their arms, my son does it in excitement.

Unlocked By: Karen Kingsbury Post 1
Unlocked is of interest to me because although it is a fictional story itis based on an autistic boy and his mother's struggles, as well as his. I can relate to this book, because I also have a son with autisim and face constant struggles to get him the tools he needs to succeed. In this book the boy is much older than my son, he is seventeen and he watches a video of when his was three dancing with this girl named Ella. They have lost contact with each other for years until they meet again in a high school drama class.... Stay tuned after an two hours of reading I cannot wait to read more.
